2025-2026

U.S. News and World Report publishes a ranking of schools at all levels, nationwide.

The rankings for secondary schools for 2025 are out of 741 PA high schools, not the number of districts (500). The website notes that while there are 741 PA High Schools, schools are ranked out of 672 PA schools.  The website notes that while there are nearly 24,000 high schools, it ranks only 18,000.  The ranking for the Pittsburgh Metro Area for 2025 is out of 152 ranked secondary schools.

Rankings for previous years are done similarly, though the numbers vary as the number of schools at a given level changes.


2025-26 Rankings:

The website notes that while there are 740 PA High Schools, schools are ranked out of 656 PA schools.  The website notes that while there are nearly 25,000 high schools, it ranks 18,000.  The ranking for the Pittsburgh Metro Area for 2024 is out of 140 ranked secondary schools.

Rankings for 2023 and 2022 are done similarly, though the numbers vary as the number of schools at a given level changes.
